Welcome to the travel blog of Rotary District 5580's Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team which will embark on an exciting five week goodwill / vocational exchange to Nagoya, Japan in November, 2009.
Here, our hybrid American-Canadian team of enthusiastic and adventurous young professionals, along with our lovely, talented and fearless team leader, will share cultural experiences and engage in unique vocational learning opportunities.
If you have come to this site, you are likely: a Rotarian, family member, friend or colleague of one of the team members, or... are just plain blog-curious. One Down.....18 to Go!!!!!
After spending the good part of the day tweaking our presentation, we had a reception/trial presentation run in front of local Rotarians, friends and family. With only one practice run under our belt (due to spending too much time tweaking . . . not tweating), we bravely stepped in front of our peers to give our presentation. After spending the first 20 mintues explaining why we might be saying "um" or the fact that there might be "dead air" or we may sound hurried, or not...we got our 20 minute presentation underway. Despite our anxiety, it went off without a hitch and was well-received. It could have been the sake we drank before we presented, the beer that our audience consumed during our presentation, or the fact that they didn't understand Evonne's Japanese. With one presentation down, we only have 18 to go. Japan, here we come!!!
I have every reason, after witnessing the team on Saturday, to believe that the presentation part is the LEAST of your concerns! What SHOULD concern you is to gather enough energy for this month-long experience! IT WILL BE GRAND!

Go - have fun - learn much - experience everything - dare - do - try!
Then, come home and help your family, company, Rotary, and the World to be better!
Evonne and Team - I am so excited for all of you and the journey that is to come. It will be GRAND to watch your travels vicariously through this blog. Thank you for representing D5580 so wonderfully. Enjoy every minute!!!!

Sorry, Team Bemidji, I couldn't face the weather outside to see you off this AM. But you should be in the big plane getting ready for take off from Minnesota. I am so glad computer is working
