Learning about Nagoya City Planning and Environmental Policy (by Julie)

The Chief of Nagoya City's Planning Section and a Planning Officer, kindly met with me yesterday to discuss planning and environmental policy. On the same day we visited, the City released their newest environmental strategy: "Low Carbon City 2050 Nagoya Strategy". I learned that many initiatives being undertaken by Nagoya (a city of over 2 million) are similar to those being pursued by cities and provinces in Canada. Thank you to the City of Nagoya for another insightful visit and to Rosie for joining the meeting and taking such excellent notes.

  1. Very cool! I wonder how their carbon targets compare to what we see in North America?
