Welcome to the travel blog of Rotary District 5580's Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team which will embark on an exciting five week goodwill / vocational exchange to Nagoya, Japan in November, 2009.

Here, our hybrid American-Canadian team of enthusiastic and adventurous young professionals, along with our lovely, talented and fearless team leader, will share cultural experiences and engage in unique vocational learning opportunities.

Meeting with Handa City`s Deputy Mayor (by Julie)


Rosie and I had the chance yesterday to meet with the Deputy Mayor of Handa City (where we`re currently based). This meeting was a great surprise as we thought we were only going to see the city hall. It turns out that Deputy Mayor Norihito Fujimoto has an extensive background in land use planning so I was able to ask a number of questions. From Rosie`s marketing background, it also turns out that the City has adopted an innovative way to market its vision: 'Handa Ship 2010: Friend Ship, Partner Ship, Leader Ship'.



Yet another successful visit and unique learning opportunity provided by Rotarians.
