Share our Excitement & Join our Journey
Welcome to the travel blog of Rotary District 5580's Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team which will embark on an exciting five week goodwill / vocational exchange to Nagoya, Japan in November, 2009.
Here, our hybrid American-Canadian team of enthusiastic and adventurous young professionals, along with our lovely, talented and fearless team leader, will share cultural experiences and engage in unique vocational learning opportunities.
If you have come to this site, you are likely: a Rotarian, family member, friend or colleague of one of the team members, or... are just plain blog-curious. Either way, we encourage you to check our site often to learn about us, follow our progress as a team and of course, keep in touch as we explore Japan.
We thank Rotary in advance for the adventure of a life time and to all readers, we invite you to share our excitement and join our journey.
Sincerely,
GSE Team Japan 2009

Another fun party
After a full day of cultural visits and a presntation to Mikawa Anjo Rotary Club, the team went for activities with their host families. Rosie and I had a fantastic party (yes another one) to go to at a Rotarian's home. There were lots of people and even more food. Barbecued beef steaks, lots of soba noodles (hand made while we were there) and so many other traditional Japanese goodies. We were invited to a special tea ceremony before we indulged in the excellent food. These people are the most gracious hosts one can imagine. Rosie and I were asked to help make soba noodles. Rosie had a little better technique than I did but our efforts were enjoyed by all. We were videotaped the entire evening. There are probably some not-so-desirable moments on that tape. Oh well, they can gets some good laughs for years to come.
Today, we are off to a fish market and other places. We present to Isshiki Rotary Club at noon.
