All of our Rotarian host families have done a wonderful job to ensure that we learn about the culture of Japan, in between making sure we get to our meetings on time, taking us site-seeing, cooking for us, entertaining us and of course, providing vocational visits.
Last night, I (Julie) was given the opportunity by my host family (Jutaro, Natsumi and Noriko) to dress in a traditional Japanese Kimono. I had no idea what was involved in dressing in a Kimono - there are several layers! Thank goodness, a professional was there to help me. The process overall took about one hour to complete. Afterwards my host family treated me to a traditional tea ceremony and traditional Japanese dinner (sukiyaki).
A big thank you to all of our hosts who are doing a fantastic job!
