As mentioned before, the week I shared with my host family (the Okazaki family) was absolutely wonderful. In addition to wearing a kimono, I was able to try a number of traditional Japanese meals. We also spent some time at the "amusement park". Jutaro (host father), Natsumi (host mother) and I challenged one another to games of Japanese drums (a downsized version of guitar hero...with drums) and air / table hockey. Jutaro beat me quite badly at air / table hockey and I on the other hand, was the champion Japanese drummer.....hmmm.....can anyone make sense out of that??? ; )
To end my stay at the Okazaki family, I was treated to a delicious farewell dinner cooked by Noriko. Since the meal was half Japanese and Italian, we dubbed it "Japalianese". Yumi and Noriko also gave me an new Japanese name - Canico.
